In Self-portrait 24 - Skin and Bone I make a connection between my previous work and my most recent project, Skeleton. As the title suggests, Skin and Bone deals with both the skin and the skeleton. The skin is what bears our unique identity when we are alive, but after death it irrevocably decays. From that point we can be identified only by the information held in our bones. In Skin and Bone I directly link these two metaphors for identity: each bone is encased in a tightly sewn sleeve, whereby the symbol of eternity is enveloped in the contemporary.
